Twelve-hour practice days destroy ordinary headsets — and ordinary ears. So when we decided to put the Lanternfall crest on audio gear, the brief to our engineers was blunt: build the cans our own roster would wear voluntarily. Nine months, four prototypes and countless scrim blocks later, the Lab headset is on sale in the shop.
Tuned for comms, not cinema
Most gaming headsets chase cinematic bass. Ours chases the opposite: mid-range clarity where callouts live. Footsteps, reloads and your IGL’s voice sit forward in the mix, while low-end rumble is kept tight so it never masks information. Sextant signed off the tuning personally after a two-week blind test against the roster’s old gear.
Comfort is a competitive feature
Clamp force, ear-cup depth and weight were iterated with the academy squads, who wore each prototype for full practice weeks and logged comfort scores. The final design runs under 300 grams with memory-foam cups deep enough for long sessions and glasses-friendly relief channels.
“I forgot I was wearing the final prototype during a six-hour VOD day. That never happens.” — Sextant, IGL
